Russian Copper Company Builds Road in Korkino

29 July 2016 (13:59)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 29, 2016. Russian Copper Company built a road linking the town of Korkino, Chelyabinsk Region, with the country cottages at the residents’ request, the company press service reports.

‘Nearly six hundred dacha owners in Korkino used to have a very hard time getting to their cottages until very recently. Any rain made the narrow road completely impassable, so even ambulances or firefighting vehicles couldn’t get there,’ the press service says.

Locals appealed to the town council a number of times in the past, but there was nothing the authorities could do due to lack of special-purpose road-building vehicles, materials, or other necessary resources. Then a petition to Russian Copper Company was created and signed by two hundred and fifty people.

The company supplied 250,000 RUR for the purpose and provided the cottage owners with macadam and a grader. Korkino residents now have a wide and even 1-kilometer-long road.
