UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, June 10, 2016. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) recently had its metal products audited by Daimler KamAZ Rus.
‘The German auditors had the opportunity to look at all of our production divisions and learn about the properties of our entire range of products, including those made in the cold-rolling, hot-dip galvanizing, and metal-pickling departments,’ the company press service says.
Daimler KamAZ Rus is a joint venture run by Daimler Group and KamAZ; the company aims to find an automobile body sheet supplier for its new-generation KamAZ trucks; the new make is expected to be launched in Naberezhnye Chelny in late 2017/early 2018. The sheets must fully meet the existing European standards, with end product quality controlled in accordance with Daimler AG’s strict requirements. Quite a number of tests will have to be carried out in Germany prior to the launch of the Russian-German JV’s project; virtually every part of the new truck make will be subject to performance testing.
