UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 19, 2016. Electromachine (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) opened an interactive study lab for NC machine operators and technicians in Chelyabinsk, the company press service reports.

To equip the lab, numerically controlled Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain machines were purchased for eight students’ workplaces and one trainer’s workplace, as well as manuals and textbooks. The would-be NC machine operators will be able to learn the standard ISO G-code programming as well as the modern dialog programming. Besides, the plant intends to buy the exact analogues of industrial Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidehnain milling and turning machines for the lab practice in order to provide students with simulators rather than send them to production departments where the costly equipment might get broken and the precious production time would be wasted.

‘This is the first time our enterprise is trying out this training format. Our operators used to train on the job, with a bit of induction at the start and getting to work with the machine immediately thereafter. This means our working hours had to be used for the training. Now students coming out of the lab will only have to master the startup and commissioning routine,’ says engineer Maria Gubina.
