UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 20, 2016. Turners from Omsktransmash (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) won the first and second prizes in the local round of the national professional skills contest, the company press service reports.
The contest comprised two stages, that is, theory and practice. For the second part, contestants were to create or improve a computer program for an NC mill. This task gave the judges a chance to assess the participants’ skills and qualifications, their compliance with production technologies and labor protection requirements, and their knowledge of the most up-to-date working practices. The theoretical part consisted in a multiple choice test on special technologies, labor protection, and labor legislation. Omsktransmash employees did brilliantly on both tasks.
‘Mill operator Vadim Kudryashov won gold and mill operator Dmitri Meshchenko got silver. Both men have been working at the same department since last year and, according to their foreman and managers, have earned a reputation as professionals. They have mastered new equipment and are now introducing and improving quite a few types of software. They both lead a healthy lifestyle, do sports, take part in the department’s social dos, and keep improving their professional skills,’ the press service says.
