Sverdlovsk Region: Number of Jobless up 11.9%

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 6, 2016. Things are looking increasingly glum on Sverdlovsk Region’s labor market. According to the constituency’s Cabinet website, the official unemployment rate stood at 1.68% in early April, compared with 1.5% at the start of the year.
According to Director of Sverdlovsk Region Labor & Employment Department Dmitri Antonov, the overall number of people registered as unemployed rose by 11.9% since New Year, that is, from 34,127 to 38,191 people.
Sverdlovskstat reports the unemployment rate was 6.5% last year, while the number of those out of jobs came to over 149,000 people.
