UBRD Joins MIR

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 21, 2016. The Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) is now a member of MIR, the international payment system, and is undergoing technical certification procedures, the bank’s press service reports.
According to the bank representatives, the organization is planning to start issuing MIR cards before the end of the year.
Bank Card Director Alexei Piskunov says the ATMs will be all set up before July, as will be the information acquiring and processing and servicing procedures. Cards will be available at any of the bank branches. The UBRD currently has 150,000 customers working for state-run organizations, who will be recommended to use their MIR card accounts as their salary ones.
‘We are happy to start cooperating with one of the largest Ural banks and to offer UBRD customers the entire range of MIR services. We keep on working on the acquiring and POS network expansion to make sure the whole infrastructure is ready for a large-scale card-issuing campaign in the second half of the year,’ says MIR Customer Service Director Olga Rabadzei.
