MMK to sell 11m tons of goods in 2015

UrBC, Moscow, November 12, 2015. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is expected to sell over 11m tons of metal goods by the end of the year, including 7.432m tons sold on the home market. This is a little less than in 2014 (11.65m tons), MMK Deputy Director-General for Sales Nikolai Lyadov said at the international Russian Metal Market Conference.
Magnitogorsky Metall refers to Lyadov as saying that the slight decrease in sales has to do with dropping domestic demand for metal goods: both the construction and the car-making markets are slimming. Production output in the car-making industry, for example, has gone down by some 25%, that at certain railcar-making plants by 50%. Avtovaz will only manufacture 440,000 new cars this year against 521,000 a year earlier, while GAZ Group will make 79,000 new cars against 93,000 a year earlier.
Nevertheless, MMK’s sales to customers in the car-making sector went up even in these market conditions, Lyadov stressed. The sales of products manufactured at MMK’s Mill2000 will triple this year compared with the year 2014. Besides, the company keeps getting its rolled metal products certified by foreign car-makers which operate their production plants in Russia and is planning to bring its Mill2000 produce onto the European market in the near future.
