UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 5, 2015. Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant/PNTZ (a member enterprise of ChTPZ Group) is launching an extra magnetic particle test unit, the company press service reports.
The new unit will ensure quality control of 100% of OCTG couplings that are produced by PNTZ Finishing Center.
The MPT unit can test up to 2,400 product units with the diameter of 73 to 195mm per shift. The apparatus works to identify localized stray magnetic fields that emerge in the defective area with the help of ferromagnetic particles which serve as an indicator.
The unit was supplied by the German manufacturer TIEDE and cost around 30.7m RUR.
‘This year, the plant is investing not only in the OCTG quality control but also in retooling of certain production sections in order to manufacture more high-margin stainless, boiler, and cold-formed precision pipes. We also direct funds to the purchase of equipment for new types of CC products,’says the Group’s Capital Investments Director Roman Tomin.
