Ural Vagon Zavod designers among Russia’s Top 100

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 22, 2015. Designers from Tomsk Electro-technical Plant (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) Alexei Drozd and Daria Stepanova took part in the 2nd All-Russian Top 100 Engineers Contest.
The corporation’s press service reports the final round was coordinated by Russia’s Economic Development Ministry and Ulyanovsk Region Cluster Development Center. 181 contestants from 30 Russian constituencies, including employees of major industrial enterprises, students, and young researchers competed for the Best Designer title.
The task was to complete one of the following tasks in six hours: a 3D model based on provided design documentation; a work in engineering graphics; and a software program for NC machines. Daria Stepanova came second in Modeling and third in the overall rating and made it to the list of Russia’s Top 100 Engineers.
In the end, top hundred engineers working for industrial enterprises and top hundred future engineers among students and young researches were selected. The best three finalists in each category received prizes from the contest coordinators and partners (including the management of Ulyanovsk-based DMG-MORI, a German machine-maker).
