UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 2, 2015. Uralvagonzavod Corporation and Evraz NTMK hockey teams were the first to play at the newly-built Prezidentsky Ice Palace in Nizhniy Tagil.

The corporation's press service reports locals will soon be able to enjoy the new swimming pools, the sports arena, the gym, the dancing hall, and the boxing ring at the new place.

'The construction began following the Russian President's provision to this effect. A group of Sverdlovsk Region delegates, headed by Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District Igor Kholmanskikh, came to the meeting with the President at the Kremlin in April 2013. Uralvagonzavod's Alexei Balyberdin, Valeriy Yakushev, and Oleg Domrachev and Sputnik Hockey Club's manager Mikhail Khomyakov were among the delegation members. They spoke about their city's infrastructure problems and lack of artificial ice skating-rinks for sports practice. The President suggested drawing up an action plan for the development of Nizhniy Tagil with help from the center. Putin said this would be a good example for other Russian cities and towns which also need support at all levels,' the press service says.
