Sputnik Hockey Club to join Supreme Hockey League

June 3, 2014. It was decided during the Supreme Hockey League Board meeting on May 30 that Sputnik Hockey Club and not Sputnik Sports Club should join the League. The hockey club was established as an independent legal entity and a non-commercial partnership, Uralvagonzavod's press service reports.
The decision that was taken in the Board of Trustees' meeting was implemented.
The new entity was set up by Sputnik Sports Club (whose general sponsor is Uralvagonzavod Corporation), Nizhniy Tagil Council, and Sverdlovsk Region Ministry for Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy.
Takhir Dukayev was appointed the Director of Sputnik Hockey Club. An experienced sports manager, Dukayev was Director, Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Board in Salavat Yulayev Club in 1995-1999. He was in charge of strategic and day-to-day running of the club, handled its commercial aspects, and worked on infrastructure development. He later headed Khimik Hockey Club and was Executive Director at Molot-Prikamye Hockey Club. Sputnik also got a new coach – Evgeniy Galkin, an alumnus of Tractor Hockey School, who was the leading coach of Chelmet, the Supreme Hockey League's team, in 2013-2014.
Chairman of Sputnik Hockey Club's Board of Trustees and Deputy Director of Uralvagonzavod Corporation Alexei Zharich said that the Board stack firmly to the selected 'roadmap'.
'We set up a new club as quickly as we could, and got a professional hockey manager to run it. A new senior coach was appointed, and the team is being completed now,' he said. According to Zharich, they are currently negotiating for getting new sponsors to support the club.
