It is reported an Orthodox cross in one of the most dangerous sections of the highway was the company workers’ idea, supported by Polevskoy Council.

The thing is made of section pipes that were welded together into the Eight-pointed Cross mounted on a cylinder-shaped foundation that reads, ‘Remember, Lord, the city in which we live, and the faithful who dwell in it.’ The golden cross is eight meters high.

The cross was consecrated on the eve of Polevskoy Day and Metallurgist’s Day (a special day of the year for the pipe-making plant’s workers).

We are witnessing a historic event in the history of Polevskoy, a town where Seversky Pipe Plant has been operating for 276 years now,’ said STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev.
