30% of fuel in Ural Federal District markets below technical standards

November 14, 2014. Ural division of Rosstandard detected in the course of this year’s inspections that some 30% of fuel sold on the local markets did not meet the technical requirements of the Customs Union, the division’s head Svetlana Mikheyeva said at a press conference.

Mikheyeva explained the non-compliance had to do with the quality of diesel fuel, while the quality of gasoline caused no complaints in the given period.

‘Just like in the previous years, diesel fuel contained more than the permissible amount of sulfur in some instances; besides, the filling stations fail to provide their customers with the necessary information on the product they sell. It was difficult in late October when cold weather broke out so suddenly. Some of the stations kept selling summer-style diesel fuel without informing their clients about this. Complaints were placed regarding two filling stations in the vicinity of Nizhniy Tagil; these complaints were processed and the stations fined,’ she said.
