September 5, 2014. A direct flight from Yekaterinburg to Budapest might be reintroduced in the nearest future, General Consul of Hungary in Yekaterinburg Sándor Molnári said at a press conference in the Mid-Urals’ capital.
‘I can’t give you the exact launch date yet, but we are working on this. Negotiations are in progress,’ the consul said.
Prior to 2009, Malev Airlines used to operate Yekaterinburg-Budapest flights, but the offer was withdrawn due to low demand and poor sales.
Sándor Molnári also said that Hungary’s Consulate-General in Yekaterinburg issued 3,398 entry visas to applicants in January-August 2014. This was 10% more than a year earlier.
In addition to Hungary, the consulate also represents the Baltic States, Denmark, and Slovenia in Yekaterinburg. The total number of visas issued to applicants thus came to approximately 8,500 in January-August.
