December 6, 2013. As of December 1, 2013, there are 31 shopping malls in Yekaterinburg comprising 42% of all the shopping areas in the city, Yekaterinburg Council's press officer says.
On average, a shopping mall in Yekaterinburg is approximately 38,000 sq m big. Greenwich and Mega are the biggest malls of 100,000 sq m each. Out of the 31 shopping malls operating in Yekaterinburg 10 are focused on trade and entertainment and 8 are focused on furniture and interior design. There are 3 parking spaces per every 100 sq m of shopping area. However, the regulations state that the figure should be 10 parking spaces per every 100 sq m.
The city council says that Yekaterinburg will keep on developing as a major trade and logistics hub. For one, Yekaterininsky Mall is now being reconstructed; this should be completed in 2015. Limerence Mall and Gallery-11 will be renovated in 2013-2017 and in 2013-2014, respectively. In 2014, two new large shopping centers will be put up in Yekaterinburg: ASTROOM in Mashinnnaya St and Tsvilling St and MaxiDom in Bolshakov St and Tveritin St.
