PNTZ ships pipes with polymeric coating to Bashneft

December 2, 2013. Pervorualsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ, a member enterprise of ChTPZ Group) shipped its first set of casing pipes with the self-lubricating fluoride polymeric coating of the collar thread called MAOK-PLAUN to Bashneft. The new coating has a range of anti-scratching and sealing properties. The total shipment volume is 1,039,000 kg, the company’s press service reports.
‘The order was not an easy one in terms of logistics and dealing with external partners. PNTZ collars were sent to Taganrog-based Polymer-Service, which specializes in MAOK-PLAUN coating. The collars were then returned to the plant, where they were attached to the casing pipes and, when assembled, shipped to the customer,’ says Head of ChTPZ Pipes with Increased Operation Reliability Project Sergey Aleksandrov says.
It should be noted that the screwing technology based on MAOK-PLAUN collar thread coating is currently unique to the world’s oil producing business. This method solves several problems at once: it guarantees extra sealing properties of the casing pipes threads after they have been used for the second time and makes it possible to unscrew the collars without using extra lubricants under field conditions.
