TMK’s new brand to unite two families of premium threaded joints

November 6, 2013. Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), one of the world’s major OCTG producers, united two families of premium threaded joints – TMK Premium and ULTRA – under a single brand TMK Ultra Premium (TMK UP), the company’s press service reports.

Pipes with premium threaded joints are meant for use in the oil and gas wells that are difficult to operate, such as the ones in the offshore and deep-water marine areas or in the Polar North, and for development of horizontal and sloping wells. This product is highly durable and airtight, has good flexibility, and is resistant to many unfavorable factors.

TMK is currently one of the top five largest recognized premium threaded joints manufacturers in the world and is No.1 on the Russian market for this product. Since 2004, the company has been working on its own family of premium threaded joints for casing and compressor pipes, TMK Premium. After TMK IPSCO (the company’s American division) joined in 2008, the product range was complemented by ULTRA premium threads that were designed by the US engineers. This family of threaded joints is widely used for the development of shale gas and oil sand deposits in North America.

Over the last few years, TMK designers on both coasts of the Atlantic have been working together on the new types of joints. ULTRA premium threaded joints production was launched at Orsk Machine-Building Plant (TMK member enterprise) in 2011. TMK premium threaded joints were also tested by the independent international certification bodies such as Oil States Industries (Aberdeen UK) and Stress Engineering Services (Houston, USA) for compliance with the ISO 13679 CAL IV requirements, which proves TMK threads’ highest quality.

The new brand TMK UP will blend the names of two families of products that are already well-reputed on the market under a bright and memorable name. The joint types that were patented earlier will get to keep their original names.
