Yekaterinburg to get 77 sports facilities over the next three years

October 9, 2013. Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Yakob approved of the preliminary forecast of physical education and sports development for 2014-2016.
The city council's press service says such projects as Backyard Stadium, Winter Sports: Second Wind, the Sports Olympus, and the long-term target Physical Education & Sports Development Program are expected to result in 77 new sports facilities over the next three years. For one, a council-run ski rental and two lawn hockey playgrounds will be built in Yekaterinburg's Chkalovsky District. In 2014, fitness clubs with gyms will be launched in the village of Palkino and in Zheleznodorozhny District of Yekaterinburg, plus six sports playgrounds will be built in the same district along with the new apartment buildings.
Starting from 2015, Yekaterinburg's Ordzhonikidzevsky and Oktyabrsky Districts will be getting new sports and healthcare sites with an ice arena and two gyms. A children's sports club and six playgrounds will be built in Botanika, the southern part of the city. Finally, a city council-run ski resort will be introduced in Ordzhonikidzevsky District.
