Sverdlovsk Region is owed 1.3bn RUR worth of transport tax

September 12, 2013. Private individuals owed Sverdlovsk Region budget 2bn RUR worth of property tax as of August 1, 2013, including 1.3bn RUR worth of unpaid transport tax, the Federal Tax Service’s press service reports.
‘The budget is missing the amount of unpaid transport tax that is 1.7 times more than the amount of actual payments received. Remarkably, most of these non-payers are owners of expensive automobiles that are over 250 horsepower strong,’ head of Sverdlovsk Region division of Russia’s Federal Tax Service Sergey Loginov said in the course of an interdepartmental meeting dedicated to ways to decrease this debt.
One proposal put forth by the meeting participants was to coordinate raids by the road patrols, tax officers, and officers of the court. During such raids, the patrol inspectors are going to stop cars in the streets, and the tax officers are going to check their taxpaying record. In case the automobile owner actually hasn’t paid their transport or any other tax yet, and there are some court proceedings involving them actually in progress, the court officer will be allowed to accept the payment in cash and write out a receipt.
