Northern Latitudinal Passageway to process over 10m tons of goods a year

June 21, 2013. President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin and Director-General of Yamal Railway Company Yakob Kraft signed a bilateral agreement that provides for redirecting up to 11m tons worth of freight a year to Northern Latitudinal Passageway that is currently under construction, Development Corporation’s press service reports.
This document serves as an additional guarantee of the fact that a lot of the cargo that is bound for the ports located in Russia’s North-West and is now transported via the Trans-Siberian railway links will be redirected to the railways of Northern Latitudinal Passageway.
Now this agreement on redirecting some of the cargo was reached by Russian Railways Yamal Railway Company at the end of last year during a work team meeting on the implementation of the Northern Latitudinal Passageway project.
