Yekaterinburg gets on Russia’s 30 Best Cities for Business list

May 31, 2013. Yekaterinburg was given the 26th position on the list of Russia’s best cities for doing business, according to a rating carried by the Forbes magazine. The Urals’ capital actually got a worse rating than earlier, which analysts say has to do with the lack of qualified workers and tax administration. Kaliningrad was given the first position in the rating, the magazine website says.

Yekaterinburg used to be at the top of this list.

‘However, it is precisely this capital city status that is starting to affect Yekaterinburg badly,’ the rating comments state. Developers are fighting for sites, and not all the companies manage to secure enough technical and labor resources for themselves.

There are only 1.59 CVs per vacancy, Headhunder.ru says, which is the lowest figure in the rating. Tax administration was another negative factor: Yekaterinburg’s Tax Inspectorate has acted as a plaintiff or a defendant in 167 court claims, but the court ruled in favor of the businesses in only 16 instances.
