Yekaterinburg to get 20 road junctions by 2020
25 April 2013 (13:46)
April 25, 2013. An incredible increase in the number of privately owned cars has made any noticeable traffic improvements in Yekaterinburg impossible so far, Yekaterinburg Council’s press service reports.
Given that the construction and reconstruction of roads and junctions alone are not enough to solve the transport problem, it was decided to implement a well-balanced transport policy targeted at the development of the street and highway network and at making public transport a priority type of transportation.
It is expected that as a result, 20 highway sections, 20 road junctions, 2 viaducts, and 4 bridges will be constructed and reconstructed in Yekaterinburg in 2010-2020. This means the overall number of road junctions will rise from 26 to 46 and the number of viaducts will increase from 34 to 36.
