17 April 2013 (09:08)
April 17, 2013. Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation is now the primary partner of ARMADA Paracycling Team Russia Project on setting up Russia’s first Paralympics cycling team, the corporation’s press service reports.
The project is unique in that its raison d’être is making paracycling and Paralympics more popular and appealing in Russia as well as developing this sport, the corporation’s press release states.
The project aims not so much to promote a healthier lifestyle to people with disabilities as to change the society’s stereotypes about people with disabilities. Paracycling is a very technologically complicated kind of sport that requires both serious and costly equipment and highly-skilled professionals such as managers, coaches, doctors, engineers, psychologists, mechanics, and masseurs. However, this sport is most challenging for the people involved in the project, as requirements are high in terms of their personal and moral qualities,’ the press release explains.
