April 8, 2013. Sinara Group is going to take part in a major global industrial fair called Hannover Messe; the fair is to be held in Germany on April 8-12. The company’s stand will feature two large projects that Sinara is currently implementing jointly with its German partners, Sinara Group’s PR Center reports.
The stand’s most prominent feature is a project on the production of freight locomotives and passenger trains at Ural Locomotives, a JV run by Sinara Group and Siemens AG. The plant is located in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk Region. Ural Locomotives produces Sinara - freight locos with collector gearing and Granit – freight electric locos with an a-synchronic drive. Granit is actually unique to the Post-Soviet territories in terms of capacity and propulsive effort; the loco was developed jointly by Sinara Group and Siemens. 60% of components are produced locally, and 85% of labor intensity falls upon Ural Locomotives as well.
Ural Locomotives is currently getting ready to launch the production of Lastochka/Desiro RUS passenger trains. The contract for the delivery of electric trains was signed by Russian Railways, Sinara Group, and Siemens in 2011; it provides for the production of 1,200 carriages for Lastochka passenger trains by 2020. Ural Locomotives is planning to produce its first six electric trains in 2014, get them certified, and start supplying them to Russian Railways in 2015.
