Uralvagonzavod’s DG Says Carriage-Building Creates Diverse Economic Demand

February 7, 2013. Railway Carriage-Builders Union, a non-profit partnership of railway vehicle manufacturers, held a general meeting in Moscow. The partnership comprises the country’s leading producers such as Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation, Tver Railway Carriage-Building Plant, AltaiWagon, RKTM, Tikhvinsky and Novokusnetsk Railway Carriage-Making Plants, and a number of others.
This meeting proved a significant event for the partnership on the whole and for its member enterprises in particular. The main point on the agenda had to do with adopting the new development concept for the union that will be mainly focused on taking the Partnership’s activity to an absolutely new level. It was agreed that the Partnership should develop further through taking in new members and expanding its activity on the international market.
Those present at the meeting voted unanimously for the initiatives proposed by the Supervisory Board, including those aimed at protecting the railway carriage and spare parts manufacturers.
‘The fact that such a non-profit organization as Railway Carriage-Builders Union is getting ever more active is definitely goods news not only for its member enterprises: the railway carriage-making industry creates demand for the various goods produced within a whole range of Russian industries and economic sectors,’ says Chairman of the partnership’s Supervisory Board, Director-General of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation Oleg Sienko.
