Sverdlovsk Region Declared Highly Stable Region

January 11, 2013. Sverdlovsk Region scored 7.5 points in the sustainability rating compiled by Peterburgskaya Politika Foundation and REGNUM Information Agency in December 2012. This result was actually 0.1 points lower than before.

Nevertheless, this rating means the region can be classed as a Highly Stable one.

The following factors made a positive impact on the rating:
-the business community’s favorable reaction to the Governor’s calling for lowering the administrative barriers for businesses;
-Yekaterinburg’s leading position on the Russian Pillars, a list of big cities with population over 1m that are most suited for SMEs;
-the fact that the Economic Development Ministry approved of the application for the federal co-financing of the Titanium Valley Special Economic Zone;
-the launch of the Public Surveillance Council for Communal Housing Services;
-the signing of a contract for the delivery of electric power onto Bogoslovsky smelter signed by RUSAL and Rosenergoatom;
-the Governor’s decision to allocate a building for the Houses of Reporters;
-the Strategic Initiatives Agency declaring Sverdlovsk Region one of the most promising investment targets.

On a scale of one to ten, the median estimates of the federal constituencies’ socioeconomic stability came to 7.05 in September and October 2012, to 6.9 in November 2012, and to 6.78 in December 2012.
