Prosecutor Kukushkin: UTair Tops Accidents Rating

14 August 2012 (09:24)

UTair Aviation Company had the greatest number of problems in the first half of 2012, Urals’ Public Prosecutor for Transportation Pavel Kukushkin said at a press conference in Yekaterinburg.

UTair had to face some grave criticism from the public prosecution authorities for transportation.

‘We conducted a serious inspection of UTair and UTair Technik which is responsible for the technical condition of the planes, and we found a great number of violations, of which we informed the General Public Prosecutor’s office. As a result, over twenty people had to face disciplinary liability,’ Kukushkin said.

‘Unfortunately, profit-hunting makes people forget the most important thing: human safety. We conduct inspections on a regular basis and detect problems at this airline all the time. This is why UTair is now getting our special attention,’ the official added.

For one, Kukushkin did not like some of the airline’s normative acts, for example, the fact that the only person in charge of the anti-acing preparation of the planes is the pilot. This is why the prosecution authorities asked for these normative acts to be edited.
