Moscow-registered OAO Detsky Mir Center had to pay a 100,000-ruble fine for selling toys that did not meet the safety requirements. This ruling was pronounced by Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court.
A scheduled on-site inspection revealed that Detsky Mir Center in MEGA Shopping Center violated the obligatory sanitary and state standard requirements in that it allowed the sale of toys that did not meet the obligatory safety regulations.
The toys in question are a set of air balloons by Veselaya Zateya TM (made in Belgium) and a roller ball in a net (made by Rosigrushka in Roslavl, Smolensk Region). In the former case, the balloons proved to be over-toxic, while in the latter case, the toy had some sharp edges and brittles on the seam as well as some cracks on the main part of the toy.
An administrative offense act was compiled, based on Article 14.43 of Russia’s Administrative Offense Code. The materials relating to the case were placed by Sverdlovsk Region division of Rospotrebnadzor with the arbitration court so that a decision could be made on whether to prosecute the company administratively.
