The passenger traffic at Yekaterinburg-based Koltsovo International Airport rose by 19.3% in January 2012 in comparison with the first month of 2011. In fact, the number of passengers went up as far as flights in all directions were concerned: the number of travelers on domestic flights increased by 25% (against January 2011), that on international flights increased by 0.9%, and that on flights around the CIS increased by 80.5%.

‘The rise in passenger traffic has to do with the increased demand for air travel and, consequently, the emergence of new air carriers and the introduction of more flights to the countries of the near abroad,’ says Koltsovo Airport’s CFO Sergey Dotsenko.

As for the most popular domestic destinations, these are Moscow, Mineralnye Vody, Novy Urengoi; the most popular destinations around the CIS are Osh, Dushanbe, Bishkek, Hudzhand, and Astana, while Bangkok and Frankfurt are among the most popular international destinations.
