Ural Airlines Launches Flight to Samarkand

20 June 2011 (09:26)

Ural Airlines launched its new Yekaterinburg-Samarkand-Yekaterinburg flight today.

Samarkand is one of the world’s most ancient cities, founded approximately in the middle of the first millennium BC. In 2011, UNESCO placed Samarkand on its World Heritage List as a Cultures Crossroads City. This is the home of the most remarkable masterpieces of the oriental architecture such as the Till-Kari Madrassah, the Ulug Bek Madrassah, and the Sher Dor Madrassah in Registan Square as well as the Gur Emir Masoleum, the Hodja Donier (Prophet Daniel) Masoleum, and other landmarks.

The air carrier’s first flight was greeted at Samarkand Airport by the airport’s management and the 143 passengers awaiting a trip from Samarkand to Yekaterinburg, which actually indicates that the Uzbek party both takes an interest in and needs Ural Airlines’ new flight.

The flights from Yekaterinburg to Samarkand are operated every Friday; the plane takes off in Yekaterinburg at 2:00 AM and arrives in Samarkand at 3:55 AM, then leaves Samarkand at 5:25 AM and lands in Yekaterinburg at 9:25 AM. The flights are operated using an Airbus A320.
