Uralvagonzavod closed down

‘Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that transformed Uralvagonzavod Production Association into Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation,’ Uralvagonzavod’s Information Management Director Boris Mineev said to UrBC. ‘The President must have thought this was the only way to cut back on tank-building and armor production in Russia. Uralvagonzavod will now lead nine enterprises, seven research institutes, and four engineering departments under a single brand known as Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation,’ Mr. Mineev noted.

Railroad wheel production line launched at Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works

The spokesperson for Evraz Group reports Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works (aka NTMK, part of Evraz Group) signed an official statement on the successful completion of a 72-hour test of railroad wheel product test line. The line provides for a fully automated 70-second testing of a 400-kilogram all-rolled wheel for internal defects. The second stage of the reconstruction of the enterprise’s wheel production line included assembling seven new machines such as the ultrasound quality control unit designed and developed for the company by the Fraunhofer society for applied research (Germany).

1,647 violations of land laws revealed in Sverdlovsk Region in January-July 2007

Rosnedvizhimost (the state land-laws watchdog) revealed 38,000 violations of land laws in Russia in the first half of 2007, with 4,437 state inspectors responsible for the land surveillance.
