Sverdlovsk Region’s inflation rate comes to 8.6%

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 5, 2015. Sverdlovsk Region’s inflation rate came to 0.04% in May 2015 and to 8.6% compared with December 2014, Sverdlovskstat reports. Food items (including strong drinks) grew 0.1% more expensive in the last month and 11.8% compared with the start of the year; alcohol grew 0.1% more expensive against April 2015 and 6.5% more expensive against December 2014. The price of non-food items went up by 0.3% in May 2015 and by 8.5% against the start of the year; the price of services went down by 0.3% against April 2015 and went up by 4.2% against December 2014.

Seven insurers’ licenses annulled by Central Bank

UrBC, Moscow, June 5, 2015. Russia’s Central Bank annulled licenses of seven insurance companies, two of which – Companion and Moya Strakhovaya Kompaniya – have up to now been operating in Yekaterinburg, the bank’s official website states. The other companies on the list are MRSK, Natsionalnaya Protivopozharnaya Strakhovaya Kompaniya, Rost, Sotis, and Russky Alliance. The bank explains the licenses were annulled because the insurers failed to bring their operation in compliance with the existing requirements in due time. UFU not on Russia’s Top10 list

Only 22% of Russian credit card holders use them

UrBC, Moscow, June 4, 2015. Only 22% of credit cards issued by banks to Russian citizens are actually used. At the same time, increasingly more credit card applications get denied, Izvestiya reports. Based on United Credit History’s data, only 6.7m credit cards out of the 31.1m issued ones do get used by the cardholders. Incidentally, the number of newly issued credit cards has been on the decrease recently. 181,800 cards were issued by banks in April 2015, which was 4.5 times less than in April 2014. Sverdlovsk Region crops delayed by rain

Daily rains delayed the start of Sverdlovsk Region crops and potato seed, Alexander Kozhevnikov, Director of Belorechensky, the area’s largest vegetable producer, informed UrBC. According to Kozhevnikov, potato seeding was to have been over by May 25, but only 50% of the job got completed by June 3. The crops were delayed by rain. Sverdlovsk Region has over 33,000 unemployed

Building materials prices go up 15% in Yekaterinburg

43% of Sverdlovsk Region’s banks incur losses

The loss-making banks’ negative return amounted to 284.7mn RUR against 66.8m RUR a month earlier, when the share of loss-making banks only stood at 14.3%. Uralvagonzavod Corporation to supply 60 new-generation trams to Moscow

UFU to make 160 faculty members redundant

The market shrank by 48% in April, with 3,383 cars getting sold. This figure was worse than in February and March, even though the market sagged by as much as 54% in March 2015. Sverdlovsk Region SME’s turnover drops 6% last year
