53% more apartments offered for direct sales in Yekaterinburg

According to the Ural Chamber of Real Estate, 53% more apartments are now offered for direct sales in Yekaterinburg. The Chamber says the number has been growing steadily over the last few months: the ratio of apartments meant for later re-sale to those meant for direct sales was 57% to 43% at the beginning of 2006, but comes to 47%/53% at the moment. The supply on the local existing homes market is expected to grow between 15% and 5% a month.

Ural Airlines wins Russian Wings 2006 Prize

The awarding ceremony of Russian Wings 2006 (the national aviation prize) took place in Moscow on April 3, 2007. Ural Airlines (the region’s largest carrier) won in two most important categories, becoming the Carrier of the Year in terms of domestic and international flights, reports the company’s press officer. The first prize was given to Aeroflot Russian Airlines, though. Russian Wings is the only rating-based award that gives one a chance to impartially evaluate Russian carriers’ performance in a whole range of aspects, including the passenger turnover and dynamics, profitability, etc.

Fire breaks out at recycling facilities under construction next to railway station

The insulation coating of one of filtering vessels caught fire during the installation process at the recycling facility under construction next to Sverdlovsk-Sortirovochniy railway station at 4 PM yesterday. No one was hurt, says the spokesperson for Sverdlovsk Region Railways. Several fire brigades were needed to put the fire out; the damage is being assessed at the moment. Public prosecution bodies complete investigation of embezzlement-related case

The public prosecution bodies of Ural Federal District completed the investigation of a case that involved abuse of power and large-scale embezzlement by two officers of justice of Sverdlovsk Region Service. Ural import comes to $726.5 million in two months of 2007

The import figures within the Ural Customs Administration zone came to $726.5 million in January-February 2007, with over 52%, or $378.7 million, being the import from far abroad and 47.9%, or $347.8 million, being the import from the countries of the CIS, says the spokesperson for the Administration. Sverdlovsk Region Duma approves of changes in land management law

Sverdlovsk Region Duma approved of the changes made to chapter 8 of the regional land management law after the second and third readings. According to the changes approved of by the Duma Committee for Industrial, Agricultural, and Environmental Management Policies, the ‘no man’s land’ (that is, the land allotments that belong neither to the region nor to a municipality) will be distributed by the city councils only after agreeing on this with Sverdlovsk Region Ministry for Public Property Management.
