Passenger train gets derailed at Sverdlovsk Region Railways

Passenger train 354 going from Perm to Priobie was derailed at 4.40 PM on July 11, 2007. The accident occurred at the 491st kilometer of Sverdlovsk Region Railways. Nine cars were derailed altogether; five of them actually toppled over. No people have been reported as killed so far, but some of the passengers were wounded. The road police as well as rescue teams from the Ministry of Emergencies, police officers from the Transport Department headed by Valeriy Aleshin, ambulance men, and representatives of Sverdlovsk Region Railways arrived at the scene at once.

Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov to visit region’s military district

Uralfinprombank’s net profit goes down 10.69%

Uralfinprombank’s net profit went down by 10%, the bank’s official report states. 'This drop in net profit has to do with increased interest payments occasioned by greater amounts of attracted finances and having to get some kind of a reserve to make up for possible bad debts,’ the report says. The bank’s net profit came to 30.312 million RUR in the second quarter of 2007 against 33.941 million RUR in the first quarter of the year. Ural Airlines looks at its success in January-June 2007

SKB Bank says most money orders are made by foreign workers

Central Bank of Russia reports the volume of money orders rose by 69% last year, with the better part of money transferred from rather than to Russia. UIC Bank’s Chair says they might offer large share holding for sale

'UIC Bank Ltd. is not unlikely to sell a large share in the company’s authorized capital to external investors, since the entire banking system is currently based on selling and buying banks as well as on bank mergers and takeovers. Severnaya Kazna’s Internetbank (the e-banking service) appears to be having occasional operating troubles. 'The first alarming symptoms came about at 3.40 PM on July 6, 2007. We are now trying to locate the problem. The deadline for making your e-payments will be extended to 5 PM instead of the usual 4 PM today,’ the bank’s corporate website said. Ford Center still gets no operating permit, Konstantin Pudov reports

'Ford Center, a motor show built for Autoland Holding, still hasn’t had the building commissioned yet and got no operating permits. The city council is currently trying to draw the monitoring agencies’ attention to the problem,’ the spokesperson for Yekaterinburg municipal council Konstantin Pudov said to a UrBC reporter. The center was opened on June 21, 2007 despite the fact that it had no permission to operate. The permission, in its turn, was missing because Archstroynadzor (the architectural and construction safety watchdog) refused to approve of the results of the construction.
