Yugoria lays eight claims against insurers

Yugoria State Insurance Company is now down to the 16th position in the rating of the third party only insurance for car drivers in the nine months of 2013; the rating was carried by Prime Insurance, a web portal. In the ranking that was compiled on the basis of data collected in the three quarters of 2012, however, the company was given the 14th position. Yugoria has signed 335,000 contracts since the beginning of 2013 compared with 386,000 contracts last month. On average, the price of a policy dropped from 3,400 RUR to 3,300 RUR. Tyumen Region Arbitration Court supported the ruling of Tyumen division of Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service which imposed a 3.58 million RUR fine on OAO GSK Yugoria. The insurance company was fined for colluding with Uniastrum Bank in order to limit the competition on the car insurance market. GSK Yugoria tried to contest the FAS’s verdict in court, claiming that it admitted a collusion attempt and had already canceled the corresponding agreement with the bank.

In December 2007, Chelyabinsk Region’s division of Federal Antimonopoly Service claimed International Moscow Bank (now known as UniCreditBank) and fifteen insurance companies (Ingosstrakh, AlfaStrakhovaniye, AIG Insurance & Reinsurance Company, Russia, Soglasiye, Surgutneftegaz, ROSNO, Zurich-Rus, Progress Garant, NASTA, Voenno-Strakhovaya Kompaniya, Renaissance Insurance Group, Rosgosstrakh-Ural, RESO Garanita, and Sogaz) were guilty of violating Article 11 (part 2) of the federal bill on the protection of competition. Yekaterinburg Consumer Rights Committee got three claims against Yugoria Insurance Company in eleven months of 2006. This comes to approximately 6% of the total number of claims laid against insurance companies, the spokesperson for the committee said to UrBC representative. This authority received 54 complaints in January-November 2006, the main cause usually being the insurer’s refusal to pay the whole awarded compensation sum or not paying the insured in full.
