Metallurgical Works of Asha announces acquisition of controlling interest in Karamet Ltd

The commodity output of Metallurgical Works of Asha JSC came to 701.910m RUR worth of goods in July 2006. The company produced 49,946 tons of steel and 39,708 tons of rolled metal. Plate iron export volume amounted to 4,459 tons. The company also produced 7,484 kilograms of amorphous tape and 189,533 magnetic conductors. Within the first quarter of 2006, the net profit of Asha Metallurgical Works went down by 47% (by 154,437,852 RUR) against the previous quarter. The reduction of the net profit is due to a decrease in the goods’ sales proceeds, which, in its turn, is a result of a decline in the company’s business activity caused by the enormously cold weather during the winter of 2006, the company’s press release says.
