Local electricity supplier to have new Executive Director

SverdlovEnergoSbyt, the region’s heat and electricity supplier, will have to cut electricity consumption by Serov Ferrous Alloys Plant, reports the company’s press officer. According to SverdlovEnergoSbyt, this has been brought about by unpaid electricity bills which, in their turn, were left unpaid as a result of certain violations in the supplier-changing procedures. The plant announced it was going to cancel its agreement with SverdlovEnergoSbyt at the beginning of 2007. ‘SverdlovEnergoSbyt has become Sverdlovsk Region’s guaranteeing supplier, with the guaranteed amount of electricity coming to 95% for the year 2007,’ announced the presenters at the conference devoted to the introduction of the new competitive electricity market. According to Provision of the Russian Government on rules and regulations for the performance of retail electricity markets during the transition period, Sverdlovsk Region is only allowed to have one guaranteeing supplier. The new market is expected to expand by 5 % to 10% every year.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service in Sverdlovsk Region started a lawsuit against SverdlovEnergoSbyt concerning the alleged violation of antimonopoly legislation, reports the spokesperson for TENCOM Group. The spokesperson says that some of the consumers living in Novouralsk are supplied with electricity at prices that do not coincided with the tariff menu designed by the Regional Power Engineering Committee. Besides, SverdlovEnergoSbyt, the supplier, provides wrongful information on the tariffs of an independent supplier Novouralsk Power Supplier Ltd. through mass media and letters it sends to

Sverdlovenergosbyt JSC is going to become the Region’s guaranteeing electricity supplier, the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative. To acquire this status, the company must be economically stable and operate on the whole territory of the region. According to the company’s spokesperson, Sverdlovenergosbyt JSC cooperates witl all municipal units of Sverdlovsk Region and has been serving over 700,000 clients, including 20,000 legal entities, in February 2006.

SverdlovEnergoSbyt, the regional power supplier, is going to hold a general meeting in absentia on October 20, 2006. The Board of Directors will have to approve of the corporate policy management working agenda for 2006, which covers the company’s strategic development, medium-term and short-term activity planning, managing the activity of the Board, and keeping track of how the Board’s and the shareholders’ resolutions are fulfilled. Another point on the agenda concerns defining the company’s priority development paths, reports the spokesperson for SverdlovEnergoSbyt.
