UrBC, Magnitogorsk, April 28, 2020. The staff of MMK-supported Metallurg Charity Foundation put together and handed over to Magnitogorsk social welfare centers 12,552 food packages meant for the local seniors, Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Information & PR Department reports.
The foundation representatives also collected 9,500 sets of PPE (gloves, masks, sanitizers, and soap) for the elderly living on their own and have already delivered these to their intended users.
Lonely seniors in the 65+ age group who have no family living with or near them were the first group to receive the humanitarian food packages. Eligible for the aid were seniors whose income was below twice the amount of Chelyabinsk Region’s living wage (i.e. RUB 21,554 a month). Additionally, food packages were delivered to all people in the 80+ age group, regardless of their incomes.
