High levels of air pollution detected in six towns in Sverdlovsk Region

February 7, 2014. Pervouralsk, Serov, Rezh, Kirovgrad, Kamensk-Uralsky, and Yekaterinburg were registered among Sverdlovsk Region-based towns and cities with the highest air pollution rates in the area, Sverdlovsk Region Natural Resources & the Environment Ministry's report on Q4 2013 says.

The air pollution in Sverdlovsk Region was at its worst on November 25-27, 2013. This was when a lot of air pollutants were detected in the air.

For one, nitrogen dioxide emissions stood at their peak in Yekaterinburg, Kamensk-Uralsky, Kirovgrad, Serov, and Pervouralsk. Increased nitrogen oxide content was detected in Kamensk-Uralsky, and Kirovgrad and Rezh suffered from sulfur dioxide and fine dust pollution, respectively.

Yekaterinburg No Longer on Highly Polluted Cities List

The air pollution rates declined in Yekaterinburg when compared with the year 2010, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s Press Service Administration reports. Subsidiary of Uralelectromed is Kirovgrad’s top air polluter

According to the report on the state of the environment and the way environmental factors affect the health of Sverdlovsk Region population, Polymetallic Production, the subsidiary of Uralelectromed (part of Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company), is the top air polluter of Kirovgrad, Sverdlovsk Region. Its share in the total amount of harmful emissions released in the air comes to 95.2%. The company dumps 98.8% of local sulphur dioxide, 51.3% of the area’s nitrogen dioxide, 77.4% of the total amount of carbon monoxide, and 100% of locally emitted lead.

SUAL-Kremnij-Ural, Kamensk-Uralsky Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant Fail to Produce Emission Quota Documentation

Sverdlovsk Region’s public prosecution authorities for the environment looked into the way the large metallurgical enterprises in Kamensk-Uralsky comply with the existing laws on the atmospheric air protection, the spokesperson for Sverdlovsk Region public prosecution authorities reports. It was detected that Kamensk-Uralsky Foundry Plant, SUAL-Kremnij-Ural, and Kamensk-Uralsky Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant do not have any permissions that clearly state the amount of maximum permissible discharge of pollutants the companies are allowed to emit into the air.

MegaFon improves connection quality for 250,000 Sverdlovsk Region residents in summer

September 2, 2013. Throughout the summer, the mobile carrier MegaFon improved the mobile connection quality as well as increased the speed of 3G Internet connection in 31 towns and cities of Sverdlovsk Region where 250,000 people are based altogether. UralElectroMed pollutes air in Verknyaya Pyshma with lead, black copper oxide, nickel oxide, and cadmium oxide

The report on the state of the environment and the way environmental factors affect the health of Sverdlovsk Region population indicates that the air in Verknyaya Pyshma is polluted with sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, lead, fluorides, and black copper oxides.
