Inquiry team withdraws UTair’s documentation

UTair Airlines ATR 42 had to stop the take-off due to technical problems at Roschino Airport, Interfax-Ural reports. Ural Investigative Department for Transportation of Russia’s Investigative Committee’s press service reported on Tuesday that the incident occurred at 6:25 AM (local time) the day before. The plane did not fly to Nizhnevartovsk because of an engine failure. ‘According to the preliminary data available, the reason for the incident was that the left engine did not switch into the takeoff mode,’ the message states.

Tyumen Region Arbitration Court supported the ruling of Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service regarding the price collusion between UTair and Yamal Airlines. The two companies are declared to reach a secret agreement on the price of tickets for Tyumen-Sochi-Tyumen flight, RIA Novosti reports. ‘The FAS looked into the fare documentation and came to the conclusion that UTair Aviation Company and Yamal Aviation Company set approximately equal prices for economy class tickets for Tyumen-Sochi-Tyumen flights. The price difference only came to 90 RUR,’ the FAS press service reports.

Another recent emergency landing performed by UTair Airlines plane in Tyumen is now being investigated. The incident occurred at 6:30 AM local time (4:30 AM Moscow time) on October 22, 2011. The captain of ATR 75 flying from Tyumen to Nizhnevartovsk asked for an emergency landing due to generator failure. There were thirty-six passengers and four crew members on board, Ural Investigative Administration for Transportation reports to Russia’s Investigative Committee. UTair Airlines’ Boeing flying from Novosibirsk to Moscow had to perform an emergency landing at Roschino Airport in Tyumen. ‘The plane performed an emergency landing because of a flight attendant who was not feeling well,’ Tyumen Public Prosecution Authorities for Transportation’s Chief Assistant Natalya Bondarenko told Interfax-Ural on Wednesday. An emergency landing of UTair airplane flying from Tyumen to Noviy Urengoy had to be performed at Tyumen-based Roschino Airport, Interfax-Ural reports. ‘The chassis malfunction sensor went on during take-off, and even though the operation went through the second time around, the crew decided to go back to the airport,’ a representative of Tyumen public prosecution authorities for transportation informed Interfax-Ural. The representative also pointed out that none of the five crew members or forty passengers on board were hurt.
