Court makes airport create sanitary zone

8 September 2010 (09:07)

Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court supported the ruling pronounced by the region’s division of Rospotrebnadzor (the state consumer rights watchdog) against Yekaterinburg-based Koltsovo Airport. Rospotrebnadzor insisted that the airport create a special protective sanitary zone on its premises.

Now the airport took legal action in order to contest Rospotrebnadzor’s order 01-01-15-09-05/6522 regarding its alleged non-compliance with the sanitary norms that was issued by the agency on January 20, 2009.

Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court partially sustained the airport’s claim as to Rospotrebnadzor’s demands being illegitimate and legally void. Ural Region’s Federal Arbitration Court supported the decision taken by Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court.

The court ruled that making Koltsovo Airport design a protective sanitary zone and place the project with Rospotrebnadzor for compliance check and a sanitation-and-epidemiological report was actually legitimate. The agency’s order must be fulfilled by October 1, 2010.
