Deposits look safer then stocks, SKB-Bank says

‘Given the stock markets’ current instability and hype, any non-pro market player would be better off avoiding the stock market investments and heading for the safest type of investments, that is, bank deposits. As a matter of fact, the government officials are making it very clear that they are not going to let the country’s financial system collapse,’ says SKB-Bank’s Trading Operations Director Evgeniy Batuyev.
‘To make sure there are no delays in B2B payments because of troubled accounts and to prevent the Russian banking system’s complete downfall, the Russian Government and the Central Bank keep subsidizing banks with money through reducing the financial backing limits, putting money on deposits, and so on. These measures ensure the banks’ stable operation and allow them to meet all of their customer obligations. Besides, there is the deposit insurance system that has already proved efficient when a certain small bank goes bankrupt and its customers need compensation,’ Batuyev adds.
‘All of the above boils down to this: one shouldn’t take any chances and invest in things that are hard to control. It’s much more logical to prefer high quality, very reliable and profitable targets during the market’s hard times. This means opening deposits in the country’s best banks whose stockholders and managers keep an eye on the situation and take all the steps needed to fully meet their obligations just in time,’ he says.
