Ural Airlines to buy new Boeing or Airbus

8 August 2008 (11:23)

Ural Airlines held preliminary negotiations with Boeing Corporation regarding the possibility of acquiring a new wide-body aircraft, the airline’s press officer reports.

Boeing’s representatives pointed out two types of liners that would meet the carrier’s demands: these are B 767 and B 787 aircraft in various modifications.

At the same time, Ural Airlines might actually choose the European Airbus as an alternative to Boeing. The carrier has already considered some offers to buy their Airbus A 330 airplane, but the signing of purchasing agreement was postponed until all the other options were looked into. The company will probably make the final decision after all the calculations related to the economic expediency of acquiring this or that aircraft have been made.

In fact, the airline intends to keep renovating its fleet of wide-body aircraft over the next ten to twelve years. With these new airplanes, Ural Airlines will be able to cut down on its fuel expenses and to introduce flights to some new destinations, including non-stop flights to the world’s remote continents, says the company’s press officer.
