Foreign trade turnover at Nizhniy Tagil customs zone goes up due to increased export to and import from Kazakhstan

Nizhniy Tagil customs’ foreign trade turnover reached $513.6 million in May 2007, which exceeds the figures for a year earlier by 88.2%, the spokesperson for Ural Customs Administration reports.
$458.9 million worth of goods (89.3% of the total turnover volume) were exported to or imported from the far abroad, the share of goods exported to or imported from the NIS came to $54.8 million, or 10.7%. Only $46.3 million worth of goods, or 9%, were actually imported, with the share of exported goods amounting to $467.3 million, or 91%. The area’s trade turnover related to the NIS went up by 72.8% compared to May 2006 and reached $54.8 million; this was mainly due to increased export to and import from Kazakhstan (figures rose by 71.6% an 23.7%, respectively) and Ukraine (import figures grew by 209.8%). The trade turnover related to the countries of the far abroad went up by 90.3% and reached $458.9 million; this was due to greater volumes of export to Algeria and Taiwan (figures went up by 115.3%), Germany (figures increased by 86.2%), Iran (export volumes were raised by 6,918.4%) Italy and the Netherlands (figures grew by 123.1% and 21.6%, respectively) as well as due to increased import from China, France, Italy, and the U.S. (import volumes rose by 72.6%, 1,392.9%, 1,173.8%, and 3%, respectively) and from Rumania and the Czech Republic. Algeria, the Netherlands, Italy, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, the U.S., the Ukraine, Iran, and Germany, whose shares in the area’s total foreign trade turnover came to 44.2%, 7.7%, 6.6%, 6.6%, 5.7%, 4.4%, 3.8%, 3.5%, and 3.2%, respectively, as far as May 2007 was concerned, became the most influential trade partners for enterprises based in Nizhniy Tagil customs zone.
