Sverdlovsk Region enterprises invest $531.4 million in foreign assets in 2006

According to the regional statisticians, Sverdlovsk Region invested $531.4 million in foreign assets last year, which is 2.8 times greater than in 2005 and falls short of the foreign investments in the region by 38.2%. Switzerland and the United Kingdom received the lion’s share of all investments (62.5% and 31.6%, respectively). The regional companies also invested $326,000 (or .1% of all foreign investments) in the countries of the CIS, mainly in the economy of Kazakhstan ($324,000).
By the end of 2006, the volume of regional investments accumulated abroad amounted to $144.4 million; the volume of investments disposed of last year came to $433.2 million. $136 million were accumulated in the CIS.
