Vysokogorsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise discusses transportation of its production

23 June 2006 (09:20)

Vysokogorsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise (VGOK JSC, member of Evraz Group) held a meeting with RAO Russian Railways representatives. The main question touched upon during the meeting was the transportation of VGOK production from the town of Kushva according to a specially designed schedule.

The need for development of railroad freight activity between the stations of Blagodat and Smychka results from an increase in density of production traffic from Goroblagodatsky pit to the industrial area of Nizhny Tagil.

Every day, a number of passenger trains, ore trains, and wagons carrying burned lime for NTMK are passing through Blagodat station. Shipping yards of three road metal freight forwarders are also located here. Due to a limited carrying capacity of Blagodat railway junction, trains often have to stand idle waiting for their turn to move through.

During the meeting, VGOK CEO Vladimir Bobrov discussed the problems of railway carriers and the opportunities for stabilization of traffic with RAO Russian Railways representatives. The parties decided to compile a clear-cut schedule of VGOK wagons turnover between Blagodat and Smychka stations.
