Ural Turbine Works JSC (part of Renova Group) exhibited its products as well as the new equipment upgrading projects at the 10th International Exhibition called Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan (OGU 2006) held in Tashkent in mid-May.

Some 120 companies coming from 15 countries (Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, China, France, Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, the Ukraine, the United States, and Uzbekistan) took part in the exhibition, including Gazprom, LUKOIL, Uzbekneftgaz, and Zeromax.

Uzbekistan’s compressor plants are equipped with 41 gascompressor units made at the Ural plant. There is now a growing need for their full replacement or at least modernization as the units are now 25 years old.

According to First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekneftgaz Oil and Gas Company Shavkat Makhitov, Uzbekistan has long been cooperating with the Russian companies quite successfully. On January 25, 2006, a five-year cooperation agreement was signed with Gazprom concerning the extraction of natural gas in Uzbekistan. The agreement states that the Russian company should invest around $400 million in this project. On December 17, 2002, Uzbekneftgaz and Gazprom signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement providing for gas extracting as well.

On January 25, 2005, Gazprom and the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the agreement concerning the general rules and principles of sharing the produce of Urga, Kuanysh, and Akchalakskiy deposits, to be followed by the Agreement on the general rules and principles of geological research in Ustyurtskiy area of Usbekistan signed by Gazprom and Uzbekneftgaz.
