Metallurgical complex of Nizhniy Tagil cuts back on natural gas consumption due to fuel overdraft
30 January 2006 (12:26)
Evraz Group management decided to cut back on natural gas consumption by Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhniy Tagil JSC since the complex has significantly exceeded its consumption limit within the last ten days, which was caused by the cold weather. The complex has been providing heat for 100,000 residents of Nizhniy Tagil.
According to their spokesperson, coking plants and blast furnaces are now operated differently in order to increase the assist gas outlet. This helps to save on the natural gas but increases the prime cost of the produce.
The complex is now saving all the energy resources as diligently as it possibly can, and part of it uses backup fuel. Their thermoelectric power station works as usual and thus manages the generation of extra heat. The station also produces 50% of the electricity that the complex uses.
