‘Altay Territory is a trekker’s paradise, as well as a perfect location for mountain climbing, horse-riding, and scenery-spotting. The place is full of spectacular primeval mountains, solutional caves, and crystal-clear springs and lakes. Tourists love Altay’s magnificent Belukha Mountain, warm Lake Aya, Kamyshlinsky Waterfall, and the mysterious Ukok Plateau, sometimes referred to as Eurasia’s Altar. There’s a local version of Stonehenge here as well: Tarkhatinsky megalithic complex. Those fond of history will also find Ulalinskaya Site (an early paleolithic site inhabited by cave-dwellers) and the local Natural History Museum quite interesting,’ the press service says.
