UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 20, 2020. The Urals-based Snag Racing Team (supported by OOO FORES and headed by racer Sergei Kariakin) came second in SSV at 2020 Dakar Rally. According to FORES’s press service, this is the first time a Russian has won silver in the race.

‘The competition was held in Saudi Arabia for twelve days. The final round of the race with a special-purpose, 167-kilometer-long section to drive through, took place on Friday, January 17. Sergei Kariakin’s team finished 39 minutes and 12 seconds later than the gold winner, the U.S. national Casey Currie,’ the company says.

Prior to the final round takeoff, Sergei Kariakin thanked FORES for the support. Kariakin mentioned the year 2017, when his competing in Dakar Rally was problematic because of unimpressive performance a year earlier. According to Kariakin, OOO FORES was the only company to still have faith in him.

‘My team and I are grateful to FORES, to Sergey F. Shmotiev, and to Alexei Shmotiev, for their immense support, not just in terms of funding, but also in terms of faith and encouragement. FORES supports quite a few projects, not for publicity reasons but rather because they are sincerely willing to help,’ the press service quotes the racer as saying.
